1. What is the function of suction machine?

Suction machines are appliances that are used to remove substances such as blood, saliva, mucus, and vomit from a person's airway. A portable suction unit can prevent pulmonary aspiration and facilitate breathing. Suction machine supplies include bacteria filters, collection canisters, and aspirator tubing kits.

2. What are the different types of suctioning?

The main types of suctioning are nasal (in the nose), oral (mouth), nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal (throat), and deep suctioning.

3. What is the most common complication of suctioning?

4. What is the correct method of suctioning?

5. How many times can you suction a patient?

If suctioning more than once, allow the patient time to recover between suctioning attempts. During the procedure, monitor oxygen levels and heart rate to make sure the patient is tolerating the procedure well. Suctioning attempts should be limited to 10 seconds.
